A nuisance neighbour - named Elvis - has been fined by London magistrates for persistently playing loud music.

Elvis Turatsinze, from Barking, failed to appear before an east London court last year, prompting the issue of a warrant for his arrest.

He was tracked down by police last month and fined a total of £1,165 including costs.

Councillor Laila Butt, cabinet member for crime and enforcement, said: “Playing music too loudly and making your neighbours’ life a misery is a crime and we will not tolerate it in Barking and Dagenham.”

Turatsinze was fined over £1,000 two years ago for a similar offence.
