Counter-terror police have charged five men with terrorism and fraud offences related to Syria after swooping on them at Dover port.
The group were trying to leave the UK earlier this month when they were stopped by officers from the Met's anti-terror command.
They appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today in connection with various terrorism and fraud offences.
Michael Coe, 33, of Central Park Road, East Ham; Simon Keeler, 43, of Solander Gardens, Wapping; and Anthony Small, 33, of Southend Lane, Sydenham, all face charges of preparation and assisting others in preparation of acts of terrorism, support of a proscribed organisation, and conspiracy to possess false identity documents.
Detectives claim Coe and Keeler had planned to travel to Syria to fight for the Islamic State.
Meanwhile Zagum Perviaz, 35, of Frinton Road, Newham; Hamzah Safdar, 24, of Cecil Road, Plaistow are charged with conspiring to possess and produce false identity documents.
All five men were remanded in custody ahead of another hearing at the Old Bailey next year.
A sixth man appeared at court alongside them on separate terror charges.
Abdulraouf Eshati, 28, of no fixed address, stands accused of possessing articles in connection to the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism and offences under the Immigration Act 1971.
