His attacker launched the assault at about 9am on July 27 after the victim paid for some food and turned to leave the shop.

CCTV video captured by the take-away's security cameras shows the attacker lashing out at staff as they try to restrain him before hurling a chair over the counter in a rage and storming out of the restaurant.

The victim suffered cuts to his head and eye lids and a bruised jaw, and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

After assaulting the vicitm the suspect ran off along Milton Avenue, but returned to the back of the shop armed with a knife, Scotland Yard said.

However, he is said to have fled the scene once the police arrived.

Detectives released the CCTV footage on Thursday and wish to hear from anyone who recognises the man or who witnessed the assault.

The suspect is described as a slim, muscular Bengali man, aged in his mid 30s and 5ft 10ins tall.
