Man, 28, charged with attempted murder after two women attacked with hammer in south London

A 28-year-old man is due in court today after two women were attacked with a hammer in south London.

Aminul Islam, of Portland Road, South Norwood, will appear via video link at Croydon Magistrates Court today charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police were called to reports of a man armed with a hammer in Portland Road, at the junction with Doyle Road, at around 6.10pm on Sunday.

Two women, both aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

Police said their injuries are not life threatening.
