A 23-year-old man accused of murdering a beloved father following a fight in Dagenham has appeared in court.

Police were called following reports of a fight at the junction of Ford Road and Broad Street at about midnight. Despite efforts by paramedics Mr Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Connor Coveley, from Dagenham, was charged with his murder and appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on 3 November for a plea hearing.

Two other men - aged 26 and 36 - were arrested on suspicion of murder but have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

“I’ll miss and love you forever dad”, wrote Mr Goodman’s daughter in a touching photo tribute on social media.

“I miss your laugh, your smile and them stupid dad jokes and no matter what you told me every day of my life that you loved me and I’ll always love you”.

A friend also paid moving tribute to him, writing: “He was always 100% the friend you needed. Fly high.”
