A body pulled from the River Thames is believed to be that of a missing pensioner, police said.

John Harding, 82, had not been seen since telling his wife he was going for a walk near his home in Tolworth, south-west London, on April 26.

Yesterday evening, police were called to reports of a body in the Thames in Canbury Gardens, Kingston.

Police said the body has not yet been formally identified but claimed they are confident it is Mr Harding.

Next of kin have been informed and the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
