Man, 26, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Barking shooting

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Barking last week.

A young man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in east London.

Police were called to Wilmington Gardens, Barking, at 2.15pm on Thursday following reports that a gun had been fired.

Armed officers descended on the scene and found two injured men aged in their twenties. Both were rushed to hospital.

One of them, a 24-year-old, remains in a "critical condition" after he suffered gunshot wounds, police said. The second victim's injuries were not life-threatening.

The 26-year-old was arrested on Tuesday at an address in West Ealing and has been taken into custody.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of affray on the day of the shooting has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The investigation is being led by Trident detectives from the Specialist Crime Command.

Officers would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting and who is yet to come forward.
