A masked gang broke into a house brandishing a gun before getting away with cash and a pair of night vision goggles in an aggravated burglary in the leafy market town of Wantage.

Police said three masked men broke into the property, threatening the occupant, a man in his 30s, with a firearm in Stockham Park at about 9pm on Thursday.

The gang then assaulted the victim, causing minor injuries, before stealing cash, cigarettes and a pair of night vision goggles.

Investigating officer for Thames Valley Police, Detective Nicola Clark said: “This is a serious offence in which a firearm was used to threaten to the victim.

“I am appealing to anyone with any doorbell, CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage in and around the area to contact the force."
