This astonishing sequence of photos shows the moment a police officer chases down a knife-wielding suspect in a late-night pursuit.

The drama unfolded in the early hours of this morning in Kingston, south-west London.

An officer launched the chase after suspecting an 18-year-old of carrying a knife in Old London Road at about 3.40am.

Members of Kingston Police tweeted: "Top work overnight in #Kingston as officers from our team chased & arrested a man on suspicion of carrying a #knife!"
