George Clooney has defended Tom Cruise after the star reportedly shouted and swore at crew members who failed to observe social distancing rules on the set of Mission: Impossible 7.

Cruise, 58, gave an expletive-filled reprimand to two staff who were breaking Covid-19 rules at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, according to a leaked audio clip.

Appearing on Howard Stern’s radio show, Clooney said he didn’t feel that Cruise had overreacted.

“You’re in a position of power and it’s tricky, right? You do have a responsibility for everybody else and he’s absolutely right about that,” he said. “If the production goes down, a lot of people lose their jobs.”

He added: “It’s just not my style to, you know, to take everybody to task that way.”

Five crew members have reportedly quit after Cruise had a second furious rant, it was reported today.
