Television presenter Melanie Sykes has announced she is engaged to her Twitter toyboy, after the pair publicly exchanged a series of racy messages on the social networking site.

Jack Cockings proposed to the former queen of daytime TV last week, two and a half months after Sykes, 42, declared on the social network that he gave her the “raging horn”.

The pair began dating in May and the mother of two says she knew it was the “real thing” as early as June.

Announcing her engagement on Twitter, Skyes said: “To my beautiful twitter friends just want to let you know that me &Jack @bespokespartan are engaged to be married and we are very giddy xxxx.”

She later posted: “Your messages of congratulations have made me cry in a gorgeous lovely way. Thank you so much peeps. I love you xxxxx.”

The world learned of Sykes’ romance after she began swapping steamy tweets with Cocking, a fan she met through the micro blogging site.

In one of the racy posts Sykes told him she had "the giddiest knickers of my life" adding : 'I've got the raging horn, please take me'.

As the romance hotted up, she Melanie wrote: 'Jack the rabbit I need some bunny love so hop to it!! Xxx boing boing!!! Loooooool xxxxxxx."

He replied: "@MsMelanieSykes haha this rabbit has really naughty habits though... keeps practicing for reproduction24/7 xxx."

The Let’s Do Lunch presenter also uploaded pictures of her and Jack kissing while sat on children’s arcade rides in a shopping centre. Cocking posted a picture of himself wearing only a pair of socks, with a leaf to protect his modesty.

Sykes, who has two children, Roman, ten, and seven-year-old Valentino, from her marriage to Italian actor Daniel Caltagirone which ended in 2009, later deleted some of the posts.

Speaking of her engagement, Sykes said: “I’m extremely happy, and vice versa. He’ll come to see me and still have roofing bitumen on his hands.

“I don’t care. I’m not interested in fame. Although I’ve been out with famous men, I also dated a guy who sold motorised scooters.
