As countries start to reopen their borders and allow British travellers in, a summer holiday is looking more plausible (depending on advice from the Foreign Office, of course).

The latest destination to announce its reopening is Dubai - but it has introduced strict new measures for any tourists wishing to visit.

Citizens and residents of Dubai are now allowed to travel overseas provided that the destination country ‘agrees to receive them’ and all international tourists will be allowed back in Dubai from July 7.

All arrivals to Dubai will have to show a medical certificate confirming they tested negative for coronavirus in the four days prior and will also need to take a coronavirus test on landing in Dubai.

Any traveller who tests positive for coronavirus will be isolated at an “institutional facility provided by the government for 14 days at their own expense”.

Incoming tourists must also download the COVID-19 DXB app and register their details.

The UAE has so far seen 45,303 confirmed cases of the virus and 303 deaths. While it’s starting to ease some of its strict lockdown measures, tourists and residents could be fined $800 (£642) for not wearing a face mask in public.
