The cottage is just an hour away from London by train

After teasing us with spring temperatures last week, London is once again experiencing a cold snap – so for our Cool Stay of the Week this week we’re heading to the Cotswold countryside.

Just an hour from London by train, you’ll find the Grade II-listed Claypot Cottage set in the postcard-perfect rural village of Cirencester.

With a large private garden and room for up to six guests, Claypot Cottage marries quintessential Cotswolds charm with high-end contemporary luxury.

Characterised by a farm house aesthetic a recent renovation has introduced modern features to the abode, with a high-spec kitchen, and a living room filled with ample furniture to sink into.

With hardwood floors, exposed timber beams, and whitewashed finishes, the downstairs area is flooded with natural light and on warmer nights, take advantage of the sun-drenched patios for some al fresco dining. On colder nights, logs and kindling will be provided to cosy up next to the open fire.

The Cotswolds region is home to a thriving community of creators, and guests staying at Claypot Cottage can expect a flavour of this in the home. The majority of the artwork found in the cottage comes from with a ten mile radius, with the complimentary toiletries coming from the local Little Goat Company and the staircase was designed and built by a local carpenter.

On cooler nights, cosy up with a book near the exposed fireplace

Close by you’ll find Cirencester, the ‘capital’ of the Cotswolds, which is worth a visit for those interested in arts and crafts particularly on the market days of Monday and Friday. For a real culinary treat, visit The Village Pub, in nearby Barnesley, or Upton Smokery for a Sunday lunch. If you fancy making use of the high-end kitchen, pop into the Jesse Smith, a butchery-cum-deli packed with excellent local food.
