All Greek in Monte Carlo

The Hotel Metropole in Monaco has been given a makeover by Karl Laferfeld

The palatial Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo has been graced by the rich and privileged since the 19th century. It was also famous for its luscious interiors courtesy of a Jacques Garcia makeover, with rich tapestries and intimate seating.

Now it is collaborating with the master of reinvention, Karl Lagerfeld, who has redesigned areas of the hotel including the pool area with a new black-and-white fresco-style panelled spa installation recreating the story of Ulysses. Modern-day images of skinny models draped in togas have been superimposed onto Lagerfeld’s own antique photographs of the Greek coastline.

Tying in with the Grecian theme, in June the hotel will unveil Odyssey, its third Joël Robuchon restaurant, adjacent to the pool area. And as you might expect, the extensive spa will offer signature Grecian-themed treatments. Epic.
