Her brand has been worn by Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne

Jewellery designer Jade Jagger has released a new collection called Madonna, dedicated entirely to the pop star. “She is one of those girls that when you were young was an icon" Jagger told Insider. "I love strong women and Madonna in my eyes is the epitome of strength and style."

The Madonna collection also reflects Jagger's interest in the classical world, with shapes inspired by the Byzantine era featuring sapphires, diamonds, pearls, rubies and emeralds.

Jagger was previously creative director at jewellers Garrard before launching her own-name brand, which has been worn by celebrities including Rita Ora and Cara Delevigne.

Though the designer tells us the youngest and most enthusiastic fan of the brand is her 4-year-old son Ray.

“Ray is so into jewellery he’s definitely taking ownership for it as my girls [Assisi, 26, and Amba, 22] don’t seem to like it so much.

“He doesn't want to mess up with my real jewellery sets so he gets the fake stuff on.

“He absolutely loves it, he knows what’s what and it’s fun to see because [jewellery] is a boy’s game, so I have hopes for him in the future, if that’s what he wants to do.”

Jagger thinks the taste for handmade jewellery is stronger than it's ever been. “Natural handmade products are always going to be at the front of my sense of luxury.”

All of Jagger's jewellery is crafted from precious metals and gemstones individually sourced from her long-standing suppliers in Jaipur, India.

The designer has been travelling the world since 1993, sourcing stones and building an insider knowledge of traditional jewellery crafting techniques.

She says her travels in India have inspired a motto she lives by: "For about 25 years I’ve been travelling to India and they have a saying that I love: ‘I’ll do my best and Ganesh, an elephant Hindu God, will do the rest," she said.

Jagger was among the celebrities who recently hit Florida for Art Basel Miami Beach, where she hosted a L'Eden by Perrier-Jouët event at Faena Hotel.

Speaking about the prestigious art showcase, she said: “I like the way art, jewellery and partying are all mixing together.

“Normally L’Eden is quite a cosy event, but because I’ve always seen myself as an artist I thought maybe Art Basel was the right place to come... but really I just wanted to have a party as art and partying have got the same letters in them!”

“I’m partly South American, I’ve got a house in the Caribbean and I love art" she added.

Despite Christmas being around the corner, Jagger thinks there's often too much waste at this time of year. “I don’t want anything for Christmas, I think we should pack it up and pack it in. I think we’ve got to stop being so over-zealous with our gifting and too much stuff.

Jade is the daughter of Rolling Stone front man Mick Jagger and human rights advocate and a former actress Jade Jagger (Rex)

“I think we’ve got to hold back sometimes and say that we’re ok and that we don’t need anything.”

So what’s Christmas like at the Jagger household? “I’ve been called 'The Grinch' because I've always said there's no such thing as a fat man who came down the fireplace and left things for people that he didn't know."

“But I’ve had to pull it back and understand that these are things that we want to believe in.”
