Exciting new metal to unveil in September

Ahead of the Frankfurt motor show we’re previewing the hot new releases you’ll see there.

The show opens on 17 September and we’re expecting new cars from a host of exciting manufacturers.

Here’s a selection:

This Alfa Romeo - the BMW 3-Series challenger - was first seen at Milan last month

With power from a sporty V6 developed by Ferrari, this BMW 3-Series challenger was first seen at Milan last month.

Audi A4

On sale in November, the fifth generation gets new engines and fresh styling.

The luxury SUV Bentley Bentayga will cost £130,000

The luxury SUV, costing £130,000 should be unveiled.

BMW 7 Series

October will see the release of the range-topping new 7 Series, with uprated and lighter chassis. There should be a hybrid version next year.

For the first time the BMW X1 will offer front-wheel or four-wheel drive

For the first time the X1, now in second generation form, will offer front-wheel or four-wheel drive. Expect it this autumn.

Ferrari 488 GTS

Costing around £200k when it goes on sale in spring 2016, this open-top version gets 660bhp from its turbo V8.

Fiat 500

On sale in September, prices will start at £10,890.

Infiniti Q30

The rival for the Volkswagen Golf will be on sale at the end of 2015.

Jaguar F-Pace

The official launch of Jaguar’s SUV – although we’ve already seen it as Team Sky’s support car.

Kia Cee’d facelift

The Kia gets a facelift and more economical engines. Due in October.

Kia Sportage

Sportage moves upmarket to challenge Nissan’s Qashqai. Styling is influenced by the KX3 concept.

Lamborghini Huracán Spider

This is the probably the debut occasion for the Huracán Spider, with a soft-top version coming this year.

Lotus 3-Eleven will cost from £82,000

Lotus 3-Eleven

The 450bhp sports car will cost from £82,000.

Maserati Levante

Another luxury SUV coming, this time from Maserati, and due at the end of 2015, although right-hand drive versions won’t arrive until 2016.

Mini Clubman

The family-size Mini just got bigger. Prices from £19,995, due later 2015.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe

The three-door version will be on sale before the end of 2015 and is a confirmed entry at Frankfurt.

When the GLC goes on sale in the autumn it will go up against the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

Peugeot 308 R Hybrid

It is probable that a 493bhp production version of this hybrid is on the way.

Porsche 911 facelift

Along with a new four-cylinder set of engines comes a small facelift.

Renault Megane

The third-generation of Renault’s important mass-market hatchback looks sportier.

Smart Fortwo Cabriolet

Smart’s open-top Fortwo will have a folding material roof, and should be on sale in the autumn.

Vauxhall Astra

The new Astra will be on the roads soon after Frankfurt, from £15,295.

Volkswagen Tiguan concept

The second-generation VW SUV will be shown as a disguised concept car.
