This year, Mickey Mouse celebrates his 90th birthday.
To commemorate 90 years of Disney’s most iconic character, Vans and Disney have collaborated on a Mickey and Minnie Mouse-inspired collection of footwear, apparel and accessories.
Taking inspiration from different decades of Mickey imagery, the 11 designs capture of some Mickey’s most famous roles, his iconic style, and his playful personality.
There’s a nod to Mickey’s film debut, Plane Crazy, for example, in a pair of Sk8-Hi’s that depict iconic scenes from the black and white silent film on the side panels.
Another Sk8-Hi has been reimagined with velvet panels adorned with celestial moon and star embroidery in tribute to the 1940s animated film Fantasia in which Mickey Mouse starred as The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice-inspired Sk8-Hi is finished with blue suede panels and contrast yellow stitching, a black sole, star printed laces and a Sorcerer’s Apprentice emblem on the heel. There’s also a matching tie-dye print Fantasia tee and Old Skool II Backpack.
Elsewhere the super popular Old Skool style is dedicated to the Mickey Mouse Club, with a red side stripe and club logo sewn on the tongue.
You’ll also find Minnie alongside in a few of the styles, and as the inspiration for a statement pair of polka dot shoes.
The collection, which comes in adult and children’s sizes (0-14 years), also includes a range of matching jackets, hoodies, socks, t-shirts, backpacks and caps.
Whether your Mickey style is bright and colourful or more minimalist, there really is a design here for every Disney fan. There’s even a hidden Mickey located on the tongue of each shoe.
The Vans x Disney Mickey Mouse Collection is priced from £12-£70, and is now available to shop in Vans stores and on the Vans website.
