Digital fashion week might be missing the celebrity-packed front rows, but last night Jeremy Scott unveiled a Moschino AW21 show positively packed with famous faces.

Big name models Hailey Bieber, Winnie Harlow, Miranda Kerr, Joan Smalls and Lily Aldridge starred alongside industry veterans like Amber Valetta, Carolyn Murphy and Shalom Harlow in Jungle Red; an old-school salon presentation inspired by the Manhattan fashion show scene in George Cukor’s 1939 film The Women.

Playing on the concept of a show within a show, the Old Hollywood-inspired film featured vignettes of pinstriped-business looks, country looks, jungle safari looks and a cheeky burlesque look, courtesy of Dita Von Teese.

The clothes themselves were a typically kooky mashup of Moschino-isms. A giant prairie dress printed with cows and fields and accessorised with a barn-shaped handbag, bell-sleeved poufy cocktail dresses in silk printed to look like potato sacks and stiletto-shaped evening bags all referenced house founder Franco Moschino’s wild sense of whimsy.

Strapless giraffe dresses dripping in embellishment, voluminous ball gowns daubed with painterly brushstrokes, sequinned zebra dress coats and a show-stopping feathered flamingo mini called for the return of red carpets – these camp creations deserve to be seen IRL.
