The fashion industry isn't adverse to bringing back a retro trend or two.

Over the past year we've seen corsets, small sunglasses, tulle skirts and even shoulder pads make a roaring return to the runway - and subsequently, to our wardrobes.

In previous seasons, the Seventies and Nineties have been a key source of inspiration for designers, however for autumn/winter 2018 the Eighties are proving the most popular period.

Tom Ford kicked off New York Fashion Week with an eye-catching collection paying homage to the vibrant era.

Furthermore, Ford wasn't the only designer to give a nod to the nostalgia trend.

Jeremy Scott's AW18 collection showcased a visual spectacle, which mixed the 80s era with a sci-fi twist.

A-list models including Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and Stella Maxwell each took to the catwalk sporting neon bobs and matching tights.

This wouldn't be the first time statement tights have made a comeback in recent years.

The late 2000s saw a whole host of rainbow hued hosiery hit the shops - and whether your tights of choice were fuchsia, cobalt or cartoon print - there's a good chance you still have a few pairs banished at the back of your wardrobe.

And you're going to want to dig them out ASAP as the trend is already progressing from the catwalks to a street style staple.

Kendall Jenner has already been spotted out and about at New York Fashion Week wearing multiple pairs.

The model exuded Cher Horowitz as she styled bottle green tights with a plaid mini dress and fur jacket for a night out on the town.

Since then she's also showcased a subtler take on the trend, pairing brown tights with an oversized jumper for a casual day look that we can definitely get onboard with.

With fashion week yet to reach London, Milan and Paris, we're sure to see a few more colourful styles hit the runway.

Plus, with Kendall Jenner as our style inspiration we may actually manage to pull them off this time - after all, third time's a charm.
