Last week Gucci’s Autumn/ Winter 2018 show saw an army of bleached browed “transhumans” - carrying fake heads and baby dragons - strolling around a runway set designed to emulate a hospital.

This week the brand has made the headlines once again with a $500,000 donation to the March For Our Lives Movement.

March For Our Lives is a student led movement, taking on Trump and the gun lobby. They have organised a protest set to take place in Washington DC on March 24.

It’s been organised by survivors of the massacre in Parkland, Florida, where a gunman killed 17 people on Feb. 14.

According to The Washington Post, organisers are expecting as many as 500,000 attendees at the event, citing details from an event permit application.

Gucci applauds the courage, resilience and determination of the inspiring students and survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and those who will join them, as they fight for their generation and those to come, and stands with March For Our Lives and the fearless students across the country who demand that their lives and safety become a priority, they said in a statement.

“I am truly moved by the courage of these students,” said Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. “My love is with them and it will be next to them on March 24. I am standing with March for Our Lives and the strong young women and men across the United States who are fighting for their generation and those to come.”
