Most models have had their fair share of malfunctions on the runway. Less have had their little sister swoop in to save the day.

Such is the benefit of having familial links within the industry, Gigi and Bella Hadid have often leaned on one another emotionally to get through the highs and lows of being an international in-demand model. But last night Gigi required a slightly more physical support.

All eyes on her, the 22-year-old was storming the Anna Sui New York Fashion Week runway when her stiletto strap came lose and she eventually lost the shoe entirely.

Ever the professional, however, Hadid continued to walk on tiptoe on her now stiletto-free foot with no fuss, ensuring photographers still got their shot and rendering those without a head-to-toe view none the wiser.

Only breaking the fourth wall for the finalé, Hadid reappeared on the runway laughing modestly at herself as she leaned on her younger sister Bella who was also walking the show.

No strange to a runway mishap herself, Bella knows the feeling all too well having been subject to several headlines when she fell head-over-heels walking the Michael Kors spring/summer 17 show during New York Fashion Week last year.

But with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Candice Swanepoel and - unforgettably - Madonna having all experienced dramatic falls, it looks unlikely that such a stumble will hinder the young model's career.
