Beyoncé made history, on Saturday night, by being the first black woman to headline Coachella.

Having postponed her performance for one year, due to being pregnant with twins, the 36-year-old made sure to put on quite the show as she was joined on stage by over 200 dancers and musicians, cameos from her husband Jay Z, sister Solange plus a Destiny's Child reunion.

For the past 48 hours, Beyoncé's musical extravaganza in the Californian desert has dominated social media, with Coachella 2018 quickly being renamed 'Beychella'.

Not only did the mum-of-three put on a show-stopping performance, but also showcased several sartorial statements, changing into five custom-made Balmain outfits during the two-hour set.

Olivier Rousteing, creative director of the French fashion house, worked closely with Beyoncé's stylist, Marni Senofonte, in order to design the costumes which, along with the performance, are sure to go down in history.

Always one to make an entrance, Beyoncé arrived on stage dripping in jewels and wearing a heavily adorned cape with matching bodysuit and hat.

Inspired by Queen Nefertiti, the couture gold and black cape had the Egyptian queen delicately embroidered on the back with Beyoncé’s name underneath.

Her second outfit was a casual contrast, pairing short denim cut-offs with a yellow hoodie sporting the letters ‘BAK’.

Twitter has since been in debate about what the slogan stands for, many thinking it could be a hint towards her next album. Meanwhile, a more unrealistic theory is that Beyoncé is opening a university called Beyoncé Knowles Academy (BAK) – we can dream, right?

Although the outfit is definitely one of Bey’s most low-key stage looks to date, it still managed to shine thanks to the addition of meme-worthy, knee-high tassel boots.

For a duet with her husband, Jay Z, Bey changed into a fishnet T-shirt adorned with an unmissable motif.

On closer inspection, the sequin design features a Nubian queen, black panther, black power fist and a black bee, with many perceiving the tee as a symbol of black power.

The majority of her looks consisted of her signature bodysuits, AKA ‘the Beysuit’, something which Balmain has had much practise perfecting, having previously collaborated with Beyoncé on her Formation world tour wardrobe in 2016.

Excitement hit fever pitch when Beyoncé took to the stage with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a surprise Destiny’s Child reunion.

The popular girl group donned matching sequin ensembles in camouflage print, paying homage to their hit single Survivor.

As for Bey's most risqué ensemble of the evening?

Having used pops of vinyl throughout her stage looks, Bey slipped into a shiny, holographic, black bodysuit, matching jacket and boots held up by suspenders.

We may have marvelled at how Beyoncé bossed each quick costume change, but one eagle-eyed Twitter user blew our minds as they pointed out that even Beyoncé's nail colour changed throughout the set.

Once again, Queen B just keeps on surprising us.
