A key seasonal landmark in the capital, it's not Christmas until Claridge's has unveiled its tree.

So with today's announcement that this year's reveal is just two weeks away, it's time to start defrosting that Michael Bublé album.

On November 22 the legendary Mayfair hotel will unveil its tree which has been designed by one of the fashion world's most well-respected and influential creatives.

Globally renowned for his relevant approach to style, Karl Lagerfeld is the creative director at both Chanel and Fendi as well as his own eponymous label.

Citing "Christmas trees" as "the strongest 'souvenir' of [his] happy childhood", Lagerfeld's tree will be the 9th designer Christmas collaboration for the hotel.

Sitting proudly in the hotel's lobby, the collaborative tradition began in 2009 with John Galliano for Dior who returned for a second tree a year later.

Followed by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin in 2011, Kally Ellis of McQueens in 2012 and Dolce & Gabbana in 2013 and 2014, the festive duty fell to the iconic Christopher Bailey of Burberry in 2015.

Last year Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson transformed the entire lobby with much more than just a single tree.

In collaboration with British set designer Michael Howells, Jony - chief design officer at Apple - and his colleague Marc created an immersive festive installation with glowing light boxes filled with photographic images of snow-covered silver birch trees set against a pure white floor.
