The Acne customer will find herself on a journey next season as creative director Jonny Johansson looks to the wardrobe of travellers to inspire his latest collection.

Taking a worldly view, the Swedish designer said: "Even though we live in a digital age with a free flow of information, there are many countries who want to close their borders. I prefer to focus on openness and looking out into the world."

Accordingly, everything in this collection was about freedom.

In some cases, this meant a loose languid silhouette - floor-sweeping dresses, extra-wide Palazzo pants and scarves streaming from the neck - at other times it meant a lightness of fabric, with fine cashmere jumpsuits and airy silk tabards a mainstay.

This being an Acne, a brand that prides itself on its utilitarian offering, there was denim on offer too - one pair of dungarees trimmed with paisley motifs served as a highlight.

Accessories - a staple in any Acne collection - were also designed with a nomad in mind, from roomy unstructured sacks slung over the shoulder to Byzantine slippers embellished with jewels.

The result was a collection that wouldn't have looked out of place in the wardrobe of a gap year student - albeit one with a hefty trust fund.
