Home is...

Hell’s Kitchen, New York.

Where do you stay in London?

The Connaught. It has the best room service and the bar is a perfect lesson in how to do Art Deco.

Best place for a first date?

J Sheekey for the perfect balance of casual and elegant. Pull up a stool at the bar and feast on champagne and oysters.

First thing you do in London?

Have a nap, followed by a pint of cider at The Coach & Horses pub in Soho. I love the atmosphere and the crowd of regulars. On my most recent visit, though, it had been invaded by hipsters.

Last play you saw in London?

War Horse at the National Theatre. My husband Geoffrey and I are into puppetry. The scale and the movement of the horses transcend reality.

Favourite shops?

Vivienne Westwood is a dear friend so I always go to her stores for separates. Whistles for simple designs in quality fabrics. Accessorize for rings, socks and gifts. The Harrods Food Hall — I can spend all afternoon browsing the fish counter and baked goods, it’s all eye candy for me.

Earliest London memory?

Moving here in my modelling days. I was 21. It was the height of Britpop. I remember dancing all night at The Marquee club. I fell in love with London that night and never wanted to leave.

Favourite discoveries?

Androuet, an incredible fondue restaurant in Spitalfields, and The Ten Bells pub opposite, which was once the haunt of Jack the Ripper.

Most memorable meal?

Tayyabs in East London for a cast party while shooting Ginger & Rosa. We ordered everything, the works. I still dream about it.

Building you’d most like to buy?

The St Pancras Hotel. I hear Lily Cole lives in one of the apartments so I guess redheads like it there.

Best place for a nightcap?

The Fumoir bar at Claridge’s for a glass of champagne.

Best advice you’ve been given?

Embrace your individuality because everyone is so different.

Best place to let your hair down?

Soho House or Shoreditch House, which is equally beautiful and does comfy very well.

Building you’d like to be locked in overnight?

The Tower of London. If we’re gonna go creepy, let’s do it right.

Favourite bar?

Loungelover on Whitby Street. I order a spicy tequila or a Smoky Martini.

Last album you downloaded?

First Aid Kit’s Stay Gold. It’s beautiful country folk.

Best thing a cabbie has said to you?

Very little. I love how you can mention the most insignificant mews and they say, ‘All right,’ and take you straight there without any guidance.

Biggest extravagance?

Stella McCartney jeans.

At the moment you are...

I’ve just gone blonde. Do blondes really have more fun? I’m going to put it to the test.

What do you collect?

Hats. I’m a fan of the beret, which is the easiest to travel with.
