Shortly after singer August Alsina said that he and Jada Pinkett Smith had a years-long relationship with her husband Will Smith’s “blessing,” Jada has reportedly denied it.

According to Paige Six, Jada’s team has said the 27-year-old’s statements are “absolutely not true.”

While speaking with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, Alsina was asked about rumors that his 2019 song, ‘Nunya,’ was about Jada, and that the two had had a relationship.

“People can have whatever ideas that they like, but what I’m not okay with is my character being in question,” said Alsina, who reportedly met Jada, 48, through her and Will’s son Jaden in 2015.

“I also don’t think that it’s ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date - but in this instance, it’s very different,” he said, explaining that he had lost money and friendships because of the rumors.

“I think it’s because people don’t necessarily know the truth, but I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those people,” Alsina said of the Smith family. “I don’t have a bad thing to say about them, they are beautiful people,” he continued, before adding that he felt “I don’t really have a choice but to express my truth."

Alsina confirmed his relationship with Jada, even claiming that Will Smith had given his approval. “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times,” he said.

“He gave me his blessing, and I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life,” Alsina said.

Later adding that he “devoted” himself to Jada, the singer continued that, “I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her.”

Alsina noted that “there’s so much that would be hard for people to understand” about his relationship with Jada. And when asked by Yee if he was disappointed she had never publicly addressed it, he shared that while he couldn’t speak to that, the dissolution of the relationship “broke me down.”

“It probably will be the hardest thing that I’ve ever experienced in this lifetime,” Alsina said. “It’s difficult because I never want to be the person to cause any confusion or step on toes, but I want to honor myself and I want to honor my authenticity.”
