Momoko Hair Shaping is the official name for this straightening treatment, designed to kick frizzy hair to the kerb permanently.
My preferred shape is “poker straight and then some” but the Momoko caters to more tastes than that. You can choose a natural straight with a bit of movement in it or even have curly hair set into a neat shape.
It’s different from many straightening treatments in that it doesn’t use keratin, a bonus for anybody who hates using sulphate-free shampoos. Instead, it uses chemicals to change the bonds in the hair. The results grow out rather than fading out and can last for up to six straight and wonderful months.
A series of treatments are applied to the hair over a three-and-a-half-hour period with forensic attention to detail. This is painstaking hairdressing.
Bree, delightful co-owner of the salon and Momoko expert, must be commended for her patience as well as her skill. The strength of treatments can be tailored to your hair and your desired results, from the pre-treatment lotions to the softening creams.
My wish for poker-straight hair was granted. I can now wash my hair without drying it and it looks as though I’ve used straighteners. Happily, I've received loads of compliments on my newly straight hair. I like compliments as much as straight hair, so I’m a happy frizz-free bunny.
