The jury gathered via Zoom yesterday to discuss and debate the candidates for the award that were on the emerging talent longlist. The decided shortlist, made up of five rising stars, will then be voted for by the public ahead of the 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards, which is being held this year on Sunday 11 April.

Celebrating the emerging and up-and-coming talent within the film industry, the Rising Star Award has a long and illustrious list of former winners, including James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, John Boyega, Letitia Wright and Kristen Stewart, as well as last year’s winner, Micheal Ward.

Voting opens for this year’s Rising Star Award on Wednesday 3 March.
