Not having a phone - Non-contactable is very now. Sir Paul Smith refuses to have a mobile, as does Stella Tennant. Bin yours immediately

Big Hair - As seen at the Gucci, Prada and Luella spring shows. The look is Saffy from Ab Fab without the embroidered cardigan.

Weeping uncontrollably in movies - Just wait for A Beautiful Mind (Russell Crowe as a schizophrenic - released 22 February) and The Son's Room (Italian Palme d'Or winner - all about the death of a child). Sob.

Vermouth - Previously regarded as a lowly mixer, it is now a drink in its own right. Try a Vermouth spritzer at hot new bar Steam, at the Great WesternHotel, Paddington (opening late February).

Duets - Look forward to Lulu's collaborations with Elton, Atomic Kitten, Samantha Mumba and Ronan Keating on her next album and to Marianne Faithfull's with Beck, Pulp and Damon Albarn. Both are due out in March.

The Blackberry - A portable e-mail device (huge among corporate users in the US). Project Telecom - which will help sell the gadgets in the UK - has just announced a 17 per cent rise in its share price. Expect British Blackberries to be big news by the end of the year.

Veneer - Grain is the way forward this year. For inspiration, check out West Street bar in Covent Garden where the walls are panelled in Macassar ebony.
