The Rose Petal Martini

Perusing Henry Besant's cocktail list at the Lonsdale in Notting Hill gave me the perfect idea for a Valentine's Day drink. The Rose Petal Martini looks every inch the most romantic drink in the world, is simple to make and is guaranteed to win you any amount of brownie points from your loved one for your efforts.

For one drink, fill a large glass with ice, add 25ml of gin - I find that Bombay Sapphire works best in this recipe - and 25ml of La Nique rose petal liqueur (available from Vintage House and Gerry's - both on Old Compton Street, W1). Stir gently and strain into a chilled Martini glass, using a rose petal as a garnish. Edible flowers are available afrom most high street florists.
