Terror alert stepped up

Security is to be stepped up in London this week amid fears of a suicide bomb attack on the Houses of Parliament.

Security chiefs fear al Qaeda could use the state opening of Parliament on Wednesday to launch a strike. Concrete barriers have been erected around the building.

Traffic in the capital was disrupted this morning as police staged a rehearsal for the ceremony.
