Teacher death: man in court

Killed: Robert Symons

A man accused of murdering school teacher Robert Symons at his £1 million London home was remanded in custody today.

Yousef Bouhaddaou, of Sunbeam Crescent, Notting Hill, west London will appear before an Old Bailey judge on November 2 following his appearance this morning at Hendon magistrates court.

Mr Symons, 45, bled to death from a single stab wound to the heart. The father of two young girls was found by his wife in a pool of blood in the hallway and died later at Charing Cross Hospital.

Officers later found a kitchen knife, understood to be the murder weapon, near the ?1 million house.

Mr Symons had given up his career running a successful IT consultancy in order to retrain as a science teacher. He took his first post last month at Queens Park Community School, in Kilburn.

Bouhaddaou, who was also charged with burglary at the Airedale Avenue house, was appearing before Hendon Magistrates Court. Three people arrested in connection with the murder were released on bail pending further inquiries yesterday. A fourth was released on bail last night. All four were bailed to a date in December.
