Tamil arsenal unveiled

A terrifying array of weapons used by London's new breed of Tamil gangland killers was put on display today.

Samurai swords, daggers, axes, pistols, hammers and baseball bats are among the gangs' favoured weapons.

Scotland Yard paraded the weapons after a new Tamil Task Forc e arrested 24 suspects after a series of killings.

Ten people have been killed in the past three years, victims of the Red Gang and the East Side Boys. In the latest killing 18-year-old Asan Ratnasergam was stabbed with a sword in Wembley.

Police say the violence often results from trivial reasons, such as a spilt cup of coffee.

Charges have been brought in six murder cases. There have been convictions in at least three trials. Three men were arrested for the murder of Mr Ratnasergam but released later on bail.
