Stevie Wonder and Muse are to headline this year's Glastonbury Festival.

Michael Eavis, who organises the world-famous annual music event, let slip that the two acts will perform at this year's 40th anniversary show, which takes place from 24-27 June.

Speaking at the Event Production Show at London's Olympia, he said Muse will headline on Saturday 26 June, while the legendary singer is highly "probable" to top the bill on the closing night, making his debut at Glastonbury.

U2 are already confirmed as headliners for the Friday night (25 June) at the event, which takes place on Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.

It had previously been speculated that a wide range of names, including David Bowie, the Rolling Stones and Radiohead would take the prestigious Sunday evening slot.

However, Michael's daughter and co-organiser Emily Eavis admitted earlier this week that a "festival virgin" would be headlining the final night.

She said: "We're pretty much sewn up now. We're still slightly confirming the Sunday night headliner but apart from that, we've pretty much finalised the Pyramid Stage which is good.

"It's a 40 year celebration this year so we've got some amazing highlights from the full 40 years and also some people who haven't played before, one headliner in particular, so we're very pleased with it.

"We're hoping to announce the names soon because I think there's an air of desperation and I understand that people want to know."
