Pack it in: smokers want to quit for New Year

A majority of smokers in London say they want to give up.

More than a quarter of Londoners smoke but 54 per cent of those say they want to stop in the New Year.

This year has seen starker health warnings on packets, a ban on light and mild cigarette branding and a TV campaign on the dangers of passive smoking.

Sixty eight per cent of Londoners now agree smoking is less socially acceptable, according to new NHS research.
