Police get more time to quiz suspects

Anti-terrorist detectives have been given another week to question nine men being held in connection with a plot to bomb Heathrow Airport.

The men, held in raids across Britain last Tuesday, are said to include a senior member of al Qaeda.

The British raids, described by security service sources as "highly significant", followed the arrest of a suspected al Qaeda computer expert in Pakistan. The nine men were among an original 13 held by police in swoops on homes in Willesden, Paddington, Bushey, Luton and Blackburn.
