Police arrest Hamiltons' accuser

12 April 2012

Nadine Milroy-Sloan, the woman who accused Neil and Christine Hamilton of involvement in her alleged rape and sexual assault, has today been arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Mr and Mrs Hamilton were arrested over the allegations by the 28-year-old trainee college lecturer in August last year.

The couple then engaged in a furious round of television denials, documented by the BBC's Louis Theroux, before police dropped the charges against them some 10 days later.

Scotland Yard later admitted that the couple should never have been arrested. Legal experts estimate the total cost to the Met, including damages to the Hamiltons - who have already said they intend to sue the Met for unlawful arrest and detention - could reach £1 million.

Ms Milroy-Sloan was arrested at her Grimsby home this morning.
