Our Dispossessed campaign is nominated for another award

Shortlisted: the Standard's Dispossessed Campaign was launched with the aim of raising £1 million but went on to make £5 million and is still going strong

The Evening Standard has been nominated for another prestigious journalism award for our Dispossessed campaign exposing poverty in London.

Judges of the Cudlipp Award for outstanding popular journalism have named the Standard on a shortlist of six. The winner will be announced as part of the British Press Awards on April 5.

Our articles highlighting poverty in the capital led to a "call to arms" from Prince William.

Londoners responded by raising an incredible £5 million for London's poor. Money continues to flood in and grants from the fund will be given for years to come.

William said it was "an amazing achievement" and told readers: "Your generosity reflects the ethos of this campaign - that fighting poverty, in every form, is a challenge that we must all rise to meet." The Dispossessed has also been shortlisted for Campaign of the Year at the Press Awards, organised by the Society of Editors to recognise the best of British journalism.

Standard journalists have been shortlisted by the awards for their individual work: David Cohen for Feature Writer of the Year, chief photographer Jeremy Selwyn for Photographer of the Year and City Editor Chris Blackhurst for Business and Finance Journalist.

It comes after an extraordinary year for the Standard as readership figures near two million. At a time when most other newspapers are losing readers, the number reading the Standard has risen by 173 per cent.
