Oak seeks cash for chef schools

12 April 2012

OAK Media is raising funds for a chain of cookery schools for children as young as five. Oak has linked with chef Claire Lyons, who has taught hundreds at her Minichef school in Jersey. They hope to franchise the idea nationwide.

The courses will introduce five to 11-year-olds to the joys of basic cooking and healthy eating. Ultimately, Oak aims to develop a children's cookery TV programme and launch Minichef kitchen equipment.

Oak also markets rights to the animated children's series, The Jellabies. It aims to raise £740,000 through a share offer on Ofex. Oak owns 50% of literary agent Pollinger Limited, which manages the estates of DH Lawrence and other authors. Chairman and chief executive Paul Woolf hopes to spin off the most successful bits of Oak into Aim listings over six months.
