New hunt for suitcase body killer

Stab victim: Fatima Kama

The brutal killer of a wealthy businesswoman whose body was dumped in a suitcase at Heathrow airport could have returned to London, the head of Scotland Yard's murder squad revealed today.

Fatima Kama, 28, was stabbed more than 20 times after being robbed of more than £25,000 cash and £15,000 jewellery. Her body was discovered crammed in a case on a luggage trolley in a Terminal Three car park four years ago today.

Scotland Yard have named as prime suspect air steward Youseff Ahmed Mosalam Wahid, 33, who fled to the Middle East the day after her death, prompting a worldwide murder hunt.

Fatima was a trainee accountant from a wealthy family who had ambitions to become a singer. She was the girlfriend of an "extremely wealthy" Saudi Arabian man, who was quizzed by police but ruled out of the murder inquiry.

Today Commander Andy Baker, head of the Met's murder squads, said police believe Wahid has returned to London, where he has strong family ties.

Commander Baker said: "This was a horrific murder which has devastated a family.

"We now believe Wahid has every reason to have come back here to London. He could be out there living a normal life. You may know him.

"But we think he is the prime suspect in this case and have a number of questions we would like to ask him."

Fatima's father, Bouchaib Kama, 58, a wealthy hotel company director who lives in Casablanca, said: "Fatima is my eldest child . Her brother, three sisters, mother and I miss her very much. She was beautiful - so young and full of life."

Fatima is thought to have been friendly with Wahid but they did not have a sexual relationship. They shared a communal flat in the Marble Arch area.

Of Lebanese origin, she held a Canadian passport - often travelling between London and Montreal. She was last seen alive at about 2pm on 17 July 1999.

Detectives believe Wahid, 33, attacked her elsewhere - possibly at her flat - before taking the suitcase to the airport and catching a plane. He was traced by Met detectives to Lebanon, but then moved to Saudi Arabia.

Wahid appears to have abandoned his real passport and may have used false documents to travel on, possibly back to the UK. Anyone with information should contact the incident room on 020 8247 4529.
