Multiplex lands hospital deal

Evening Standard13 April 2012

WEMBLEY Stadium developer Multiplex has been named preferred bidder for a £340m hospital in Peterborough. The Private Finance Initiative project comprises a 762-bed hospital with 22 operating theatres, a 102-bed mental health unit, a 40-bed care centre and a multi-storey car park.

'This is an excellent example of the Multiplex fully integrated model at work in the UK, providing construction, facilities management and a component of equity for the project,' Multiplex UK managing director Martin Tidd said.

Multiplex will carry out the work with ABN Amro, with which it has worked on six previous similar projects. 'This is ABN Amro's largest PFI project in the UK to date and represents a major milestone for our growing alliance with Multiplex,' Mark Dooley, head of European infrastructure at ABN Amro, said.

The consortium also includes consultants RKW and designer Nightingale.
