Londoners sweltered in their beds last night as the city endured the hottest night in a decade.

Following a day of sunshine, the temperature in London stayed comfortably above 22C all night.

According to the Met Office, the last time temperatures were this warm overnight was on July 19 2006 – exactly ten years ago.

In keeping with tradition, Londoners moaned about the weather and complained the heatwave was keeping them awake all night.

Some shared tips on staying cool in the city whilst others compared the UK to like being in the Mediterranean.

The city is in for another sweaty night as temperatures are predicted to stay above 30C today.

It is predicted to cool down towards the weekend but remain dry for the capital.
