Insurers feeling the pain

INSURERS across Europe are feeling the pain. Zurich Financial cut its dividend 87% to SWFr1 after £2.1bn annual losses. It did not raise new capital and remained silent on talk that it would sell UK arm Threadneedle. French giant Axa cut dividends 40%, though net profits rose to £650m.
