Hard Rock Calling all Londoners to choose Hyde Park

Louise Jury13 April 2012

Organisers of Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park today urged Londoners to shun other festivals as they announced acts including Neil Young and the Pretenders.

Toby Leighton-Pope, of promoter Live Nation, said festival-goers were mad if they ignored a great line-up on their back doorstep.

"If you're a Londoner, why think of Glastonbury and how awful it is in the mud when Hyde Park is not a muddy site. It never gets messy," he said. "Hard Rock Calling is also one of the greenest festivals in the UK because there's no parking."

Veteran Canadian rocker Young, who is also set to play the Isle of Wight, will perform his first open-air concert in London in a decade.

The Saturday night line-up on 27 June will also include Fleet Foxes, the Brits-nominated band from Seattle; Ben Harper with band Relentless 7, and Seasick Steve. Bruce Springsteen is scheduled to play on Sunday night, which is already sold out.
