Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2

LucasArts games usually get a slagging from us and the knives were sharpened and ready for this one, but how wrong we were. As either Luke Skywalker or Wedge Antilles, you take on ten flying missions from the original trilogy, starting with the destruction of the Death Star in an X-Wing (pictured). Gameplay is easy to master, as long as you complete the training, and the artificial intelligence is as knowledgeable as Yoda. Near perfect.

Luigi's Mansion

Shock, horror, there's no Mario launch game; we'll just have to make do with Luigi instead. He's won a haunted mansion that's kidnapped Mario and, with the help of a mad professor, a torch and a vacuum cleaner, you have to suck up the spooks to solve the mystery. With inventive gameplay, Luigi's Mansion shows off the Gamecube's capabilities to the max, even if it is a little easy.

Wave Race: Blue Storm

The Nintendo 64 version of Wave Race was a hit, and this should be no different. Updated controls, simply gorgeous graphics and incredibly realistic wave physics (lagoons and lakes are harder to navigate than the sea) bring the extreme sports modes of tournaments, stunts and jet ski freerides to life. You may find things a bit tricky at first, but practice makes perfect in one of the best titles around.
