Fresh row over abortion limit

The row over abortion time limits was stepped up today.

Campaigners set out evidence they say justifies the need to keep the limit for abortions at up to 24 weeks.

Ministers and pro- life groups called for the time limit to be shortened after the Standard first showed 4-D scan pictures of a tiny foetus appearing to "walk in the womb".

Now the Pro-Choice Forum is to review the evidence at the Commons and pregnancy advice charity Bpas is holding a conference. Tomorrow Bpas will outline how a shortage of doctors and nurses in the field means women struggle to obtain abortions they are legally entitled to.
