Claim: Provides the "five a day" requirements for fruit and veg.

Reality: Contains 1.25g of salt - half the maximum level of salt a four to six-year-old should consume in a day.

Kellogg's Frosties Turboz

Claim: Benefits include healthy bones and heart and improving concentration.

Reality: Contains five times as much sugar as adult breakfast cereals.

McDonald's cheeseburger, fries and milkshake

Claim: Slogan boasts "I'm lovin' it"

Reality: Contains 1,050 calories. Would take a 9-mile run to work off.

Chupa Chups lollipops

Claim: Low fat.

Reality: Virtually all sugar.

Heinz Cream of Tomato soup

Claim: Equivalent to eating two portions of fruit or vegetables.

Reality: Claim was dropped because the tomato accounts for one portion.

Shape yoghurt

Claim: Virtually fat free

Reality: Contains 0.9 per cent fat - above the 0.3% threshold stipulated in dairy industry guidelines.

Philadelphia Light

Claim: "Light" version is low in fat

Reality: It still contains 16g fat per 100g.

Marks & Spencer ham

Claim: 95 per cent fat free.

Reality: Contains at least 10% fat.

Mars Bar

Claim: A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play.

Reality: A man would have to walk four miles to work off calories. Child would have to play for 100 hours.

Can of Coca-Cola

Claim: "All the world loves a Coke."

Reality: Contains 35g - equivalent to seven teaspoons - of sugar.
