Drunk designer who mowed down teenager is spared jail

A drunken swimwear designer who seriously injured a teenage girl when she ran her down with a Mercedes has escaped a jail sentence.

Sarah Goodey left Georgina Parker, 17, with a bleeding brain, broken leg, fractured cheekbones and facial scars inthe smash in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The victim's friends leapt to safety as Goodey, 25, who was nearly three times the limit, raced towards them, Inner London crown court heard.

Ms Parker, now 18, was catapulted onto the windscreen before hitting the ground. The court heard she has made a good physical recovery in the last 10 months but still has nightmares, headaches and sleepless nights.

The crash happened after an evening of heavy drinking and rows at a Bermondsey pub.

Goodey, of Barnet, was badly beaten during a fight outside and drove off in her boyfriend's borrowed Mercedes — but hurtled straight into Ms Parker.

She admitted unlawful wounding and dangerous driving and was given a 12-month suspended sentence, a three-year driving ban and ordered to do 100 hours' unpaid work.
