Drivers ignore speed limits

Up to 13.5 million drivers break the speed limit every day, showing that speed cameras are doing nothing to change the attitude of motorists, experts have warned.

An RAC study found that drivers would slow down when they saw cameras - but did not alter their behaviour at other times.

The study added that 70 per cent of motorists thought the cameras were purely to raise money rather than road safety.
