Daisy Lowe pulls it off for her fashion friend

Star turns: Daisy Lowe models for graduate Josh Bullen

It pays to have friends in high places - especially if you are a fashion student and that friend is former Louis Vuitton model Daisy Lowe.

Budding menswear designer Josh Bullen was the envy of classmates when the Agent Provocateur model paraded in his fashions at the Central Saint Martins graduation show last night.

Following in the footsteps of former student Stella McCartney - who enlisted supermodel pals Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to present her 1995 graduate collection - Bullen, 23, persuaded Lowe to take part during a chance meeting in Soho a week ago.

He spotted her with a mutual friend, the DJ and graphic designer Margot Bowman, in Old Compton Street and showed her a selection of his work. He said: "We were just having a casual conversation and I told her about the show.

"She said she'd like to do it. I kept it a secret so it would be a bit of a shock. My close friends were really excited because Daisy Lowe is a very pretty young lady. She really nice so I hope I can stay friends with her."

Lowe modelled near-transparent boxer shorts and a sports jacket knotted at the waist - like the rest of Bullen's offering, a tongue-in-cheek homage to all things sporty. Bullen flies to Italy later this month to start work for menswear brand Stone Island.

The college also counts Alexander McQueen and royal wedding dress designer Sarah Burton among its alumni, and Bullen, from Suffolk, was one of 45 graduates showcasing their work at the event in Bethnal Green before judged including designers Christopher Kane and Craig Lawrence.

Other catwalk highlights included Kim Traeger's bondage-style white bunny suits, while the Young Designer Talent Award, for the collection of the year, went to Flaminia Saccucci, 25, from Rome.

Saccucci, who presented printed rubber dresses inspired by car tyres, said: "I wanted to fuse the prettiness of the prints with something hard-edged."
